Snow Carrier is a floor relief cast in silicone, into which the tracks of various animal species have been imprinted. Some of these tracks are real, others are replicas. It illustrates how we share space – the Earth’s surface – with other species. The material typically used in sculpture to reproduce the same forms over and over is employed here as a unique piece, alluding to the age of fossil fuels from which the silicone was originally derived. Overall, the cast resembles a tapestry depicting a picturesque snowy landscape, as the earthy residue of the footprint is, in turn, imprinted into the silicone layer.
