MORNING MOON (Sirens)
Artistic Action Week / MAS‘25 festival, Vilnius, Lithuania
2025
In the performance MORNING MOON (Sirens), Stella Geppert explores the interplay of breath, movement, and sound. Every physical movement, which is closely linked to breathing, literally sets the tone, as the inhalation and exhalation become audible through the playing of a harmonica. The body is moulded from within and without; dissonances and harmonies, contrasts and connections make the invisible visible. MORNING MOON explores the relationship between rhythm and the inherent musicality of communication, signs, and touch. The simple being, the inhalation and exhalation, the constriction of the ribcage, the raising and lowering of the diaphragms, the modulation of the body from inside and outside navigate through the inner body space and outer architectural and subtle space, which is usually determined by the appropriation of the human being and its organizational structures. MORNING MOON explores correlations, contrasts, and connections between planetary and physical states – visibility and invisibility, gravity and weightlessness, being held and letting go, the connection to rhythm, energy, and thus musicality, which is inherent in and can be elicited from all substances and living beings.
