| 1 I accompanied my friend on a stroll through the camping ground ‘In Paradise’ in Caputh, a small town near Berlin. It was one of these places where we camped every summer for two years. It was a frightening experience for me. I felt like an intruder and at the same time I did not want to offend people by my interest in observing how people organise their private architectures. |

2 Most of the photos show the development of ‘buildings’ that have spontaneously been added to the caravans. The simultaneous need to settle down and the longing to travel far away were a remarkable contradiction. |
